ADSL Migration

FREE ADSL Migrations to MMAD-IT

MMAD-IT now offers a free migration path between service providers for all our Home and Business ADSL solutions.

Migrations allow you to move your current ADSL connection away from an existing provider to MMAD-IT without the risk of days of downtime or new activation charges. If you were to cease your ADSL connection with your existing provider, only to reconnect with MMAD-IT, this can lead to downtime of upto 14 days. Migrations keep the downtime to a minimum and in most cases this is a couple of minutes.

We are only able to migrate customers who currently have self-install 'Wires Only' ADSL services. If you have an engineer-installed ADSL service (ie a BT engineer installed the ADSL service for you) then we are unable to provide a migration facility. If unsure your existing ISP will be able to confirm this to you.

How the Migration Works

  • Firstly you need to request from your existing ISP a Migrations Authority Code (MAC) Code. A MAC code is used to authenticate the migration request from your current ISP to MMAD-IT. The MAC code replaces a number of previous systems and allows easy authorisation from the losing ISP that you can migrate away from their service.

  • A MAC code will look similar to BBIP12345678/AB12C

  • Once you have a MAC code go to our website and place an order online supplying us with the name of your previous ISP and MAC Code. You can pick which package and speed you want from us. THIS DOES NOT NEED TO BE THE SAME AS YOU HAVE WITH YOUR CURRENT ISP.

  • Once the order has received with process this for you. Customers will receive a welcome email and access to a control panel allowing them to track the progress of the migration. This can take upto 8 days. You will receive your new login details prior to the migration, and until the date of migration your existing ISPs login details will continue to operate. There should be no downtime associated with migrating, and if there is it is normally kept to a matter of minutes.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Unless you have a MAC code from your ISP we will be unable to proceed with the migration. As long as all outstanding payments, and contracts, have passed then there should be no reason for your ISP issuing you a code.

  • Some ISPs may charge you for a MAC. Under current Ofcom rules an ISP is not obliged to provide you with a MAC, nor do they have to give you one for free. This is probably something you didn't consider when you signed a contract with your existing ISP, but can hinder you in the future. MMAD-IT allows all its customers to gain access to their MAC codes within a few clicks of the mouse, and free of charge.

  • If you decide to migrate away from MMAD-IT within the first three months of migrating to us, the BT migration fee of £15.00 plus VAT will be billed to your account directly. This only applies to migrations and not new activation lines, and only if you decide to leave within 3 months of joining us.

  • The ADSL migration process does depend on the co-operation of your existing ISP. In the event that a migration cannot take place, you will need to arrange for your existing ISP to cease (cancel) your ADSL service so that we can arrange for a new connection to be configured on your line. This will require you to pay an activation fee and isn't included in our free migration offer. This is a very unlikely event and most migrations go smoothly as long as you can gain a MAC.

  • Although a successful migration should result in much less downtime than a 'cease and re-provide', unfortunately we cannot provide any guarantees as to how successful the migration process will be or how long your ADSL will be out of operation during the migration. 99% of the time downtime is no more than a matter of minutes whilst you place our username and password into your modem or router.

  • We are unable to liaise between you and your existing ISP should a MAC code not be issued. They should issue it for free and without restriction, although there is no law stopping them charging for this. MMAD-IT does not charge to issue our own MAC codes.

  • If you have any specific questions about ADSL migration then MMAD-IT staff will be happy to advise. You can contact us using our contact us form or call us on 0208 090 2429
